Bone and Heart: The Two Long Conversations
6 minute read
Bone and heart rarely announce themselves with symptoms. They are measured, which means they are easy to skip and easy to catch.
Numbers worth knowing
- Blood pressure, measured more than once
- A lipid panel, and what your clinician makes of it
- Fasting glucose or A1C
- Whether a bone density scan is appropriate for you, and when
- Family history, written down rather than remembered
Ask for your results in writing. Keep them together. A trend over five years is more informative than any single number.
